80% of Human Fat Loss Transits Through The Lungs

According to a recent study carried out by researchers at the University of New South Wales based in Australia, about 80% of body fat loss passes through lungs during exhalation. This makes the lungs the primary organ that ensures weight loss.

The blood of the human being contain a sort of fat called triglyceride. This type of fat comprises of three sorts of atoms namely that of oxygen, carbon and hydrogen. From a process known as oxidation, unwanted fat can be shed once the atoms found in the triglyceride molecules are unlocked.

The team has operated by following the path of the body taken by each atom. Thus the team of researchers have been able to determine that for every 10 kg of fat that is oxidises, about 8.4kg transit through the lungs as carbon dioxide. The 1.6kg of fat that remains is transformed into water.

The research has also demonstrated that the amount of oxygen required for this whole fat loss process to be carried out effectively is up to three times more considerable than the amount of fat being discarded. For instance, for 10 kg of fat to be oxidised from the human body, about 29 kg of oxygen would need to be inhaled. This 29kgs would yield 28kg of carbon dioxide and 11 kg of water.

The authors of this research Andrew Brown and Ruben Meerman mentioned that all these findings are not totally unknown but they wonder why researchers had not thought about carrying out these calculations before.
